HOW I WORK

From Brief to Final Frame.

Every outdoor shoot is different. The terrain changes. The light changes. The brief changes. But the process stays the same — because good planning is what makes great work possible in unpredictable environments.

01

FIRST STEP

Discovery

Strategy first. Always.

Before a shot gets planned, I go deep on your brand — your audience, your goals, the feeling you want people to walk away with. For outdoor brands, that means understanding not just what you make, but where your customers actually take it and why it matters to them.

What Happens

Brand and audience deep dive, goal setting, creative direction, mood and tone alignment

What You Provide

Brief, references, any existing brand guidelines, campaign goals

Outcome

A shared creative direction both parties are confident in before anything gets planned

02

Before the Shoot

Pre-Production

Surprises in the backcountry mean someone didn't plan well enough.

Locations scouted in person, logistics mapped, shot lists built around real terrain and real conditions. Every decision gets made before day one. For documentary work, this stage also includes relationship-building with subjects and access coordination.

What Happens

Brand and audience deep dive, goal setting, creative direction, mood and tone alignment

What You Provide

Approved direction from Discovery, key talent or product details, any location preferences

Outcome

A fully planned shoot with no surprises — every decision made before we arrive on location

03

On Location

Production

Prepared for what's planned. Ready for what isn't.

Efficient shoot days at real locations — mountains, trails, desert, backcountry, wherever the story lives. Every frame is intentional. Every cut earns its place. I work clean and fast because the environment demands it and the brief already told us what we need.

What Happens

On-location photography and/or cinematography, daily selects review if multi-day, real-time adjustments to conditions

What You Provide

On-set approvals if required, key contacts for any talent or brand representatives present

Outcome

A complete set of raw assets captured across every shot list item — ready for post

04

Final Step

Delivery

The deadline is a commitment, not a suggestion. Great work, zero chasing, every time.

Your assets arrive organised, formatted for every channel, and ready to deploy immediately. No extra steps on your end. Just open and publish.

What Happens

Editing, revisions, and final delivery — organised, formatted, and ready to publish

What You Provide

Revision feedback within agreed turnaround windows, final format requirements

Outcome

Revision feedback within agreed turnaround windows, final format requirements

Common Questions

How far in advance should I reach out?

For campaign shoots, 4–6 weeks gives us enough time to do proper pre-production. For documentary or multi-day productions, 8–12 weeks is ideal. For urgent projects, reach out anyway — I'll let you know what's possible.

How does video post-production work?

Our post-production team handles everything after the shoot — editing, color, sound. It's scoped into your project quote upfront so there are no surprises.

can i be on set during production?

Absolutely. Brand representatives, creative directors, and art directors are welcome on set. For backcountry locations, let's discuss logistics during pre-production — some locations require physical preparation.

Do you travel for shoots?

Yes — available worldwide. Based in Salt Lake City with easy access to the American West. For domestic and international travel, flights, accommodation, and per diem are covered by the client and quoted separately.

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Outdoor production means working with conditions, not against them. Pre-production includes weather window research and backup planning. In some cases, unexpected weather produces better content than the original plan.

What is the deposit and payment structure?

30–50% deposit to lock your shoot date (percentage varies based on project size). Travel and production expenses invoiced and due 30 days before the shoot. Balance due within 14 days of final delivery. Agencies working on net 30 terms — just let us know upfront.
